Madina: Xavier Sosu stands no chance in December polls – NPP PC Robert Lamptey

Robert Lamptey, NPP parliamentary candidate for Madina Constituency, has asserted that the current MP, Francis Xavier Sosu, does not stand a chance in the December elections because he has not contributed to the constituency’s development since his election.

He said he believes that even Hon. Sosu’s own party followers know that he (Robert Lamptey) can do the work and do it far better than the current MP is doing.

“As for him, he is not and will not be part of the December polls. I have faith that even his own party members believe in my ability to do the work far better than he can do,” he disclosed.

Mr. Lamptey disclosed it took himself and the Municipal Chief Executive of the La Nkwantanang area and some party executives to secure a slot in the Agenda 111 project, which is currently on going at the Danfa in the Madina Constituency, which after completion will serve the entire constituency.

Mr. Lamptey, popularly known as Okumkom, said that Hon. Sosu, who claimed to be an orphan, has not adopted any souls from orphanages in his constituency or anywhere in Ghana since he came into office in 2021, adding that the current MP is self-centred.

“The man is not doing the work. If you all can remember his words before the elections that brought him to power, he said he was an orphan and that, as such, he will be humble enough to love and care for all. Ever since he was voted for, he became part of the elite class. I want to ask over here in Madina, we have an orphanage home called Echoing Hills Village. Have you seen him going there to adopt a single soul to care for?

“He is self-centred, thinking about himself and his family. He has pushed his wife and children to the United States of America; he cares less about the development of the Madina; all he knows is leading demonstrations, demonstrations that will add nothing to the growth of the Madina,” Okumkom said.

He also accused Hon. Sosu of pushing the freedom of gays and lesbians against the current laws and cultural norms of the country and therefore called on constituents not to renew his mandate.

“If he is pushing for gays and lesbians to be allowed to operate freely, we will not give him another chance in December 7 to continue being our MP; he has nothing to offer us. If the whites do not like some of our cultures, it is the same way we also dislike certain cultures they push on us too. If he is going to bring a culture we do not believe in, I will plead with the entire populace of Madina not to vote for him.”

Mr. Robert said that it was wrong for the people of Madina to have voted out the former MP, Hon. Saddique Boniface, considering the developmental projects he had secured and executed for the constituency.

The NPP parliamentary candidate made these remarks on Saturday, 27 July, when the youth wing of the party held a health walk in the Madina township.

The walk started at Oman FM, through the Madina Market area, and ended at the No. 1 cluster of school’s park.

Speaking on the same platform, the party’s constituency chairman, Forster Kofi Arthur, outlined some of the projects Hon. Boniface had embarked on during his tenure, including an astroturf at Libya Quarters, construction of storm drains, and the construction of many inner roads in the constituency.

He slammed the current Member of Parliament for keeping to the excuse that his party is not in power and that therefore he cannot do anything to better the lives of his constituents, stating that there are NDC MPs whose party is not in power, yet their constituencies are witnesses to various forms of development as a result of their humility and good lobbying skills.

“Today we said Boniface is not good, and we went for this gentleman who is in power; has he added even a block to where Hon. Boniface left? He claims his party is not in power, but we know NDC MPs whose party is equally not in power, but because they are good at lobbying, they get deals to help their constituency with, so he has no excuse,” Chairman Arthur noted.

He urged party faithful across the country to come out in their numbers to vote for the flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and all other Members of Parliament to win their seats in order to drum home the digitalization agenda the flagbearer has been preaching.
