The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai. Their arrests followed investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.
According to the Police, Nana Yaw Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic vehicle but did not return.
Investigations indicated that he was allegedly lured to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
The Police said the two suspects later confessed to their involvement, with Philip Tefe allegedly admitting that he attacked Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation and struck him with a metallic object.
“The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died,” the Police said.
The body was subsequently transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, where it was allegedly dumped in a bush and set ablaze.
“The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on 21st September 2026,” the Police stated.
The victim’s biological mother and an uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
As part of the investigation, the Police said they retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body. A Kia Morning vehicle belonging to his father, which the Police believe was used to transport the body, has also been impounded.
The three suspects remain in Police custody and are expected to be put before the court as investigations continue.
“The three suspects are currently in Police custody and will be put before the court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case,” the Police said.
