The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that it is investigating a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit on June 21, 2026, the Madina Divisional Command has commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear on Sunday, June 21, while visiting the residence of her late father at Kwabenya.
The former Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister subsequently reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24, which police said showed visible signs of gunshot damage.
“The victim has been issued with a Police Medical Report Form and is receiving medical attention,” the statement noted.
Police further disclosed that the vehicle involved has been retained for forensic examination as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Investigators are also working to identify all persons connected to the incident.
The statement, signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, did not provide details on the identity of the assailants or the motive behind the attack.
The incident reportedly occurred at the residence of Adwoa Safo’s late father, Emeritus Professor Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
