S/R: Abu Jinapor accused of meddling in Damongo chieftaincy affairs

A press conference was held at the Damongo-wura over the alleged meddling of Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor in Damongo chieftaincy matters.

Saawura Abukari Jarga, Elder of Damagowura, said this after the affirmation of Damongowura Jira Kelly Braimah Seidu Boresah 1 as the chief of Damongo.

According to him, Hon. Abu Jinapor has blatantly refused to recognise the decision of the overlord Yagbonwura and his council of elders in affirming Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresah as the installed Damongowura and chief of the Damongo traditional area.

He revealed that the continuous interference and disregard for the customs and traditions of the Gonja kingdom has become a matter of concern since this has had serious security implications in Damongo and its environs and equally prepares the grounds for further security threats in the future.

Saawura Abukari Jarga, Elder of Damagowura, added that the security capos in the Savannah Region, after carefully analysing the security threats, made some arrests only for the Hon. Abu Jinapor, and the minister for lands and natural resources ordered the police command to release those arrested.

“Damongowura and his sub-chiefs wish to call on the leadership of the NPP, the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Nana Akufo-Addo, the Flagbearer of the NPP, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Chieftaincy Minister to call Hon. Abu Jinapor to order,” he reiterated.

Saawura Abukari Jarga, Elder of Damagowura, cautioned that the Chiefs and People of Damongo Traditional Area will not countenance any attempt by the member of parliament for Damongo to disrespect, undermine, and disregard the authority of Damongowura Kelly Seidu and to compromise the security of Damongo and its environs in the process.

“However, should the member of parliament continue to ignore this humble call by the Damongowura and his sub-chiefs, we can assure him that our community will, within a month from now, have no choice but to organise a massive demonstration to express our discontent and seek appropriate remedies from the higher authorities,” he further stated.
