The Adenta Circuit Court has granted Techiman-based nurse and public figure Salomey Bafoh Awiti bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties.
The court granted the bail on Monday, October 5, 2026, after Ms. Awiti had spent nearly a month in custody in connection with a case involving the alleged publication and circulation of false news.
The two sureties are required to be civil servants earning a monthly salary of at least GH¢3,000.
Her lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, said the defence team had begun processes to meet the bail conditions and secure her release to her family.
Ms. Awiti has pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetment of crime in relation to the alleged publication and circulation of false news.
Prosecutors allege that she acted as a liaison for UK-based TikToker Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof”, and recruited individuals to distribute videos at the centre of the case.
The prosecution further alleges that Ms. Awiti shared funds received from Ms. Kodua with some of the individuals involved.
Her latest bail follows earlier unsuccessful applications. Both the lower court and the High Court reportedly declined to grant her bail in September, with concerns raised about possible interference with investigations and the deletion of digital records.
