The National Association of Institutional Suppliers has announced that it will be picketing at the premises of the Ministry of Education on Monday, April 8, 2024, to press home their demands for settlement of their overdue debts.
In a statement on March 1, the association noted that the picketing was initially planned for March 6, but the police asked them to consider a new date due to Independence Day celebrations and the 2023 Africa Games.
“As people committed to ensuring a peaceful and non-violence picketing and conducting it in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, we accepted the request and have duly communicated our new date to the Ghana Police Service”, the statement read.
“The picketing event remains a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to draw the attention of stakeholders in the education sector, and all those who mean well for Ghana’s education sector, to the longstanding issues of unpaid contracts arrears for 2021-2022, 2022-2023 academic year respectively, and our pressing issues affecting our businesses and livelihood for swift resolution,” the statement added.
The association further urged the swift intervention of education authorities and other stakeholders to ensure that their issues are fully addressed.
