Sustaining impact in a world filled with sundry people with varying ideologies on what impact is and the way impact is measured is challenging. Leaders from all over the world are continuously and consistently holding meetings and forums where the exchange of ideas is being examined to achieve impact in the world.
These forums and meetings range from “How the World Can Achieve SDG Goals,”, “Global Forum on Migration and Development”, “World Economic Forum Annual Meeting”, One Young World 2023 Belfast Summit,” and the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit, among others.
But are these forums and meetings yielding their expected results?
In this year’s World Changers Conference at the GNAT Hall in Accra, Professor Charles Amoatey, a lecturer at GIMPA and Director for Development Impact West Africa (DIWA), engaged participants on the theme “Developing Self for Sustaining Impact: The Role of Evaluation in a Changing World”.
In his presentation, he outlines some nuggets required to sustain impact, including determining their position, thus where they aspire to be, and their current level in the sphere they find themselves in—be it personal, family, or organization—and defining purpose, which is paramount to achieving the target.
He observed, however, that the target or goals must be measurable and attainable.
Drawing the line between sustainability and impact, Prof. Amoatey encouraged participants to discover and cling to a promise in the word of God.
He quoted Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me. He stated that this belief will cancel any limitations in the mind and aid in moving beyond impact, adding that prayer should be key.
Aside from these, he emphasized the need to have personal, family, or organizational retreats to refresh the mind and gather strength for the journey ahead.
“It is not enough to have a dream; have a plan; this should encompass how to gain resources, strategize, and who to talk to”, he stated.
“Discipline your personality thus, cut down on activities that will delay your progress (practice delay gratification), deposit the price of hard work, practice constant evaluation, and get people along the line, thus building on partnership”, he added.
The 2023 World Changers Conference saw some distinguished personalities in business, academia, and corporate, including Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Dr. Martin Yamborigya Kolbi, Stephen Nasei Boadi, Dr. William S. K. Anarfi, and Mr. Isaac Newton Acquah, Ekow Mensah, speak to the theme “Beyond Impact: Sustaining Impact in a Changing World.”
It was organized by the Global Impact Circle with support from GACEN Media, Yeskoko Foods, Me Naturals Products, Queenstar Naturals, Joylinks Travel Consults, Talbye Foundation, Majestic Arts, and The Sikaman Times.
