Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP flagbearer, has vowed to ensure a seamless transition to the new government, emphasising the party’s commitment to supporting the incoming administration responsibly.

Speaking at a media briefing at his Cantonments residence in Accra, Dr. Bawumia assured Ghanaians that the NPP would not engage in disruptive opposition but would uphold its duty to rigorously scrutinise government policies in the nation’s interest.

The outgoing Vice President expressed confidence in the NPP’s Members of Parliament, stating that they would work diligently to strengthen Ghana’s democracy and advocate for the welfare of citizens. “We have conceded defeat as democrats, but our resolve to transform Ghana and create opportunities for all remains unshaken,” he remarked.

Acknowledging the disappointment among party members following the election results, Dr. Bawumia offered words of encouragement. “I understand the hurt and uncertainty you feel after giving your all to this cause. However, we will regroup and emerge stronger,” he assured.

Dr. Bawumia extended gratitude to his campaign team and reaffirmed his support for the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, pledging full cooperation in the transition process.

Although the Electoral Commission has yet to officially declare results, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP lost overwhelmingly to the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary polls.
