Bono Region: Residents of Duadaso Threaten To Boycott 2024 Elections Over Poor Road Network

Disgruntled residents of Duadaso No. 1 and No. 2, a suburb of the Jaman North district of the Bono region, have asked the government to urgently attend to the deplorable roads that connect Sampa and Wenchi, a failure of which the electoral commission officials and government appointees must not visit the area during the 2024 elections.

In an interview with Kwaku Abrampa Mensah on Gye Nyame FM, the residents stated that the deplorable state of their roads, which have been neglected by successive governments for so many years, has presently become a death trap for all road users, hence the need for immediate attention by the government.

They stressed that the poor road network within the Duadso township and the Jaman North district has affected a lot of daily activities, making it difficult for commuters to move with ease, especially in the rainy seasons.

According to them, the recent heavy downpour that affected some households at Duadaso No2 restricted the mobility of some commuters, especially those going to Sampa from Wenchi and vice-versa.

They therefore pleaded with the government and other stakeholders to come to their aid in the construction of their roads or forfeit their votes in the next round of national elections.

Reacting to the development, the District Chief Executive for the Jaman North Constituency, Hon. Solomon Owusu, told Kwaku Abrampa Mensah that his outfit and the District Assembly since the departure of the contractor have been trying to get him back on site to proceed with the construction, adding that the contractor has not given out a specific date but promised to come and complete the work.
