The Accra High Court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, has remanded popular “Galamsey” promoter Aisha Huang, following charges of mining without a license and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.
Three other Chinese nationals, namely Johng Li Hua, Huang Jei, and Huaid Hai Hun, were also charged with illegally trading in minerals without a license.
They are to re-appear in court on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Narrating the issue to the court, Chief Inspector, Mr. Frederick Sarpong, noted that Ms. Huang has become famous for her involvement in illegal mining, having been arrested once in 2017 and deported in 2019.
Mr. Sarpong noted that Aisha made her way back into the country after changing the details, including her name, on her Chinese passport.
In the meantime, it is alleged that Ms. Huang has obtained a non-citizen Ghana Card bearing the name of Aisha Ruixia.
