Dr. Francis Epilla, a surgeon at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, has revealed that the Sampa Government Hospital has recently been referring more cases of breast cancer to their facility.
Speaking in an interview with Ark FM news’ Kwaku Mensah Abrampa during a health screening program organized by Sampa Government Hospital in partnership with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Weil Cornel Medicine Center as part of the 2022 Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Epilla said most cases reported to their facilities are mostly from Sampa Government Hospital, which is why they selected Sampa to engage them in the screening to detect the extent of the disease and how to fight it.
He added that most women who went through the screening were detected with breast cancer and other ailments; hence, they will ensure continuous visits to the facilities in Sampa to offer other health screening programs to save lives.
Mr. Gerald Binney, the administrator for the Sampa Government Hospital, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the program for making sure residents of Jaman North also benefit from the activities of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. He called for similar health screening programs in the district to ensure effective healthcare delivery.
On her part, Madam Rose Gyasi, a public health nurse in the district, appealed to all and sundry to take advantage of every health screening activity that may be carried out in the district to sustain quality health status.
She disclosed that their office is open to groups and institutions that need sensitization services for their members, indicating that they are ready to deliver maximum education to ensure promising healthcare.
Some beneficiaries of the health screening program expressed gratitude to the management and staff of the Sampa Government Hospital for giving them the opportunity to know their breast cancer status.
