Dumsor: Erratic power supply hits parts of Accra after Wednesday’s rains
SharePostSendShareSend

Several parts of Accra have been grappling with erratic power supply following heavy rains on Wednesday. The downpour, which lasted several hours, appears to have triggered widespread disruptions in electricity supply across the capital.

The Sikaman Times can confirm that areas which previously enjoyed relatively stable power have experienced outages on multiple occasions—some reporting at least five power cuts since the rains.

While the exact cause of the instability remains unconfirmed, preliminary checks by our team at local offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) suggest that faults in power lines and transformers—allegedly damaged by the rainfall—may be to blame. However, this information is yet to be independently verified.

Neighbourhoods affected include Oyarifa, Madina, Nungua, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Lashibi, Alhaji, Lapaz, Spintex, and parts of Tema.

As of the time of publication, the ECG has not issued any official statement regarding the situation.

Residents in the affected areas have expressed frustration, citing disruptions to daily activities, businesses, and electronic appliances.

The Sikaman Times will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
