EC re-exhibits Provisional Voters Register online from October 15 to 19

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the “re-exhibition” of the Provisional Voters Register (PVR), scheduled to take place from Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to Saturday, October 19, 2024.

This decision follows a special Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024, where the EC assured the public and political parties that the revised PVR would be re-exhibited online, allowing registered voters to verify their details and report any discrepancies for correction.

In a press release issued on October 14, 2024, the EC outlined the procedure for voters to check their registration information:

“From Tuesday, October 15, 2024, voters can check their details via short code *711*51# free of charge. Voters can also check their details from our website: https://ec.gov.gh. Voters should click on the pop-up link at the bottom-right corner of the screen and enter the 10-digit Voter ID number to receive their voter registration details.”

The EC has urged the public to report any discrepancies they find in the PVR to its designated district offices. It also stressed that after the re-exhibition period ends on Saturday, October 19, 2024, voters will no longer be able to request corrections, although they can still check their details online.

“Political parties are required to use the template provided by the Commission to submit any discrepancies identified during the re-exhibition period,” the statement added.

Background to the IPAC Meeting

The IPAC meeting on October 1, 2024, was convened to discuss the EC’s 2024 electoral plan with the leadership of political parties. It also served to address concerns raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding alleged discrepancies in the 2024 voter register and the party’s petition for a forensic audit of the electoral roll.
