The police have launched an investigation into the tragic accident involving the 16-year-old son of renowned prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako, which occurred at East Legon, Accra, and led to the deaths of two women.

The accident, which took place on Saturday, October 12, around 4 p.m., also left four others seriously injured and caused damage to a section of a private residential wall.

Eyewitnesses report that the accident happened when a Jaguar, allegedly driven at high speed by the 16-year-old minor, crashed into an Acura vehicle that was attempting to make a turn. The impact caused both cars to burst into flames.

Following the accident, the Ghana Police Service has issued a statement confirming that investigations are underway.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect driver, identified as Salifu Amoako, rammed his vehicle into another on Dzanie Ashie Street, East Legon. Both vehicles caught fire and were burnt beyond recognition,” the police statement read in part.

The police further noted that the suspect driver and other survivors are receiving medical care, adding that one of the injured has already been treated and discharged, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
