Managing Director of FBNBank Ghana Limited, Victor Yaw Asante, has attributed the bank’s success largely to the loyalty of their customers, hence occasionally rewarding them to show appreciation.

Speaking to the media on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the finale of the “Akye Promotion,” Mr. Asante revealed that the draw, which began six months ago, has so far rewarded 100 customers with various prizes.

“We started about six months ago, and we’ve been rewarding along the way. I think overall we must have gone beyond one hundred rewards, with the smaller ones and the bigger ones. Today was the grand one, and there are 10 grand award winners who take away a set of appliances for the house and everything,” he explained.

The criteria for selection, he shared, was opening an account with the bank and holding a minimum balance of GH¢500. He disclosed that although the promotion was over, the bank would soon roll out a new one.

“Well, it’s done; we’ve finished. Today was the last day we’ve presented, but it’s just the matter of opening an account and leaving some amount of money in the account—five hundred Ghana Cedis in the account. So that’s how it was done, but we have finished and will come up with a new one soon, so look up to it.”

The MD pledged to prioritise its customers, ensure their services and offerings are great, and enhance their digital platforms to meet customers’ banking needs.

Head of retail banking, Mr. Allen Quaye, revealed that the bank was happy because they had been able to meet their goal of rewarding their customers while growing deposits over that period.

“We wanted to reward our customers, which we have done, and I will say those were the goals, and we have largely met them, and we are happy that at least our customers participated, which led to the growth in deposits and led to loyal customers being rewarded, so we are happy and looking forward to the next deposit promotion we will run, and like I said, something big is coming,” he intimated.

Mr. Quaye disclosed that FBNBank presently has 24 branches across the country, with plans to increase the number this year. subject to regulatory approval. The bank has 4 agencies and 1,600 agent bankers, according to him.

“So if you are a customer today and you go to an area where we don’t have a branch but there is an agent, you can go there and do your basic banking, which is also supported by the bank’s E channels, so we have our app, we have our USSD, we have our ATMs, and we have our cards,” he added.

Some 25 customers were rewarded, with five winning the grand prize, which included a set of household appliances such as air conditioners, television sets, washing machines, and gas cookers.

A grand prize winner, Rejoice Aku Narh, told The Sikaman Times that a friend introduced her to a promo that required her to save GH¢500 Ghana cedis within a six-month period.

According to her, she’s been saving with the Spintex 1 branch of FBNBank for the past three years and will continue to save with it.
