On 10th and 11th February 2026, Good Governance Africa hosted the Edge AI and Robotics Intensive at Latua Villas, Prampram. The two-day boot camp, themed “Bridging the Gap from Simulation to Autonomous Edge Intelligence,” brought together 30 senior high and technical school girls for a hands-on STEM experience.

Participants worked in 10 engineering cells, with three students per workstation, moving beyond hobbyist robotics into embedded systems design.

Day one focused on robotics fundamentals and block programming using platforms such as mBot and VEX Robotics, covering sensors, controllers, actuators, and logic programming.

Day two introduced electronics and Arduino, guiding students through circuits, sensors, and capstone projects that combined hardware and code.

Led entirely by women instructors, the boot camp fostered collaboration, mentorship, and real-world problem-solving, demonstrating that girls can excel in advanced technology fields.

A Broader Vision for Africa

Good Governance Africa, a pan-African research and advocacy institute, uses training and empirical research to promote accountable governance and sustainable development. This initiative aligns with its mission by equipping young women with the skills to innovate and lead Africa’s technological future.

Building More Than Robots

Beyond circuits and code, the boot camp built confidence, leadership, and vision. By bridging simulation and real-world autonomous intelligence, it did more than teach robotics — it engineered possibility.

“For the 30 young women who left Latua Villas, the future of STEM in Africa looked not just accessible, but achievable.”
