The Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa, in a joint effort to promote ease of travel, have officially established a visa waiver agreement for ordinary passport holders.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration made this announcement on October 13, 2023. This bilateral agreement, which is set to come into effect on November 1, 2023, allows travelers with ordinary passports to enjoy the privilege of visa-free travel between the two nations.
Under this new arrangement, eligible travelers can transit through, depart from, and stay within the territories of Ghana and South Africa for a cumulative duration of up to ninety (90) days. It’s important to note that this waiver does not grant individuals the right to engage in employment while in either country.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has advised the traveling public to be aware of this significant development, as it will undoubtedly facilitate smoother travel between Ghana and South Africa for ordinary passport holders.
Below is the statement from the Ministry.
