The Public Relations Officer of the “Ghanaians National Alliances,” Akwa Obodai, has called on all the various independent political candidates and parties to unite against the political dominance of the NDC and NPP.

According to him, eligible voters have since been voting for either the NDC or the NPP, and yet these two political parties have not brought much development to this country, adding that they only come to power to enrich themselves and their families, leaving the masses to suffer more.

“For about 33 years now, it’s always been either NDC or NPP that wins the elections and leads the country in that regard, yet we haven’t seen much change and development.”

“What we are asking for humbly is that we are calling on all the independent candidates as well as the smaller parties to come together to have a formidable party, which is the third force to fight or wrestle power from either the NDC or the NPP.”

Mr. Obodai disclosed this on Monday, 12th August 2024, during an engagement with the media in Accra.

He continued by saying that the people of Ghana are tired of voting for two major parties and want an alternative, and that the alternative can come if the various independent candidates who have the nation at heart aren’t vying for the presidential bid for selfish reasons but seek to end the dominance of the two leading parties.

According to him, Ghanaian voters have expressed dissatisfaction with the two major parties and recommended merging independent candidates for the presidency.

Mr. Obodai said they are calling on independent candidates and smaller parties such as Nana Kwame Bediako (aka Cheddar) of the New Force Movement, Kofi Koranteng of the New Vision Movement, and Dr. Sam Ankrah, among others, to come together to end the political duopoly.

He further urged quick internal elections from among all the independent candidates should they come together to secure the best to contest the 2024 general elections.
