The Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed, has expressed her interest in being elevated to the substantive Women’s Organiser of the party.

According to her, she possesses the experience and knowledge required for the role, having learned extensively under the former substantive organiser, Madam Kate Gyamfuah, who, though eligible to stand again, has chosen not to due to fatigue and other personal reasons.

Hajia shared this with The Sikaman Times reporter, Yaa Amoakowaa Obeng, during an interview shortly after a media engagement held by party executives to announce the dates for the nationwide internal elections, where new executives will be elected to leadership positions.

She urged delegates not to make the mistake of voting for someone without experience in managing the Women’s Organiser portfolio, emphasizing that her tenure as deputy has thoroughly prepared her for the role.

“I have cooperated peacefully with all other women’s organisers across the over 276 constituencies in the country over the years. I believe they already know what I possess and can offer,” she said.

Hajia also promised to work tirelessly with women across all 276 constituencies to help the party win the 2028 general elections alongside the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. She stressed that, if given the opportunity, she would treat the role not as a second choice, but as her primary responsibility—much like a junior high school graduate would value the first chance at secondary education offered by the Ghana Education Service.

“I will not treat the position lightly when given the nod. I will see it as my first choice of work and will approach it with respect and dedication. Trust me, delegates—I will not turn my back on it once I am voted in. I will work with all the other women organisers, just as I have always done.”

“I remain committed to the women’s wing and will continue to serve it throughout my life, contrary to what some speculate. I will work alongside our flagbearer, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to bring the party to power in 2028, Insha Allah,” she affirmed.
