MTN Group has announced key leadership changes, effective April 1, 2024, to drive the continued execution of the company’s “Ambition 2025.”.

Group Chief Operating Officer Jens Schulte-Bockum steps down after seven successful years, leaving a legacy of scaling core connectivity and digital platforms. He’ll remain involved as a non-executive director.

Taking the reins as Group Chief Commercial Officer is Selorm Adadevoh, MTN Ghana’s CEO for the past five years. His commercial expertise will be crucial for growth.

Strengthening regional leadership, Stephen Blewett becomes MTN Ghana CEO. He brings deep WECA market knowledge and proven success as the previous CEO of MTN Benin and MTN Cameroon.

“I would like to thank Jens for his valuable contribution. We look forward to his continued input on the boards of MTNSouth Africa, MTN Nigeria, and Bayobab,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO.

“I congratulate Selorm and Stephen on their appointments.”

Selorm joined MTN in 2018 as CEO. Previous to that, he had a number of important positions in the USA, UK, and Latin America at different points in his career, as well as important positions with Millicom in Africa and Caribbean mobile network operator Digicel.

Stephen Blewett, the new CEO of MTN Ghana, returned to the company in July 2023 as the Operations Executive for Markets. In this role, he will oversee the group’s smaller West and Central African markets and assist the Senior Vice President for Markets with more comprehensive operations support throughout the region.

He had been Digicel’s Chief Operating Officer before then. He worked for MTN for seven years, first as CEO of MTN Benin and later as CEO of MTN Cameroon, prior to that.
