Controversial church leader and socialite Nana Agradaa has been arrested by the police following reports of a money-doubling scam by her followers.
According to a statement by the police, Nana Agradaa is currently behind bars and is assisting the police with investigations.
The police also asked anyone who has been a victim of Agradaa’s alleged fraudulent activities to report to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.
“We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central, close to the COCOBOD building.”
“While the investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected, to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands,” the police added.
This is the second major public arrest of Nana Agradaa, also known officially as Patricia Asiedua. Two years ago, she was arrested for illegally operating a satellite TV station in Kasoa, whose platform was allegedly used to siphon money from unsuspecting members of the public in a similar fashion.
In the most recent incident, a viral video saw the vociferous, self-acclaimed evangelist inviting the public to bring her money to be doubled whilst disguising bundles of Ghana Cedi notes, purportedly to prove her wealth.
However, the doubled money, which should have been paid to the victims, saw Nana Agradaa not honour her portion of the bargain—a move which led to some of the victims’ trooping to the church to protest a refund of their money.
Nana Agradaa has also been in the social media space for having confrontations with several public figures, including Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International.
She recently claimed that she had repented and had turned away from fetishism to become an ordained evangelist.
