The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has announced the striking off of 318 companies from the national Companies Register as part of ongoing regulatory and compliance enforcement measures aimed at ensuring accuracy, integrity and transparency within Ghana’s corporate records.
In a press release issued on 19th May, 2026, the ORC stated that the decision was taken in line with Section 289(3) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), which empowers the Registrar to remove companies from the register under specified conditions.
The companies affected have been earmarked for strike-off following a notice published in Volume 40 of the ORC Companies Bulletin dated 15th May, 2026. According to the ORC, the names listed will be struck off the register upon the expiration of three months, unless sufficient cause is shown to the contrary.
The notice indicates that upon the expiry of the stipulated period, the affected companies shall be deemed dissolved, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The ORC explained that the move forms part of broader efforts to ensure continued compliance with Ghana’s corporate regulatory framework and to promote high standards of corporate governance and business transparency.
“The Office remains committed to ensuring compliance with Ghana’s corporate regulatory framework and to promoting high standards of corporate governance and business transparency,” the statement noted.
The Registrar of Companies, Maame Samma Peprah, issued the release and reaffirmed the institution’s role as a “trusted partner for business,” emphasizing that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to maintain an accurate and dependable companies register.
The ORC further encouraged affected entities, creditors, shareholders and members of the public to take note of the directive and respond within the stipulated timeframe where necessary.
