An official statement from the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana) has confirmed the death of a Ghanaian prospective pilgrim, Mr. Musah Sidi, in Makkah.
In a press release labelled “Ghana lost a blessed soul in Makkah: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” the Office stated that the 53-year-old collapsed at the Haram while performing Tawaf, the ritual circumambulation around the Kaaba, and passed away shortly afterwards.
The statement noted that the family of the deceased has been formally informed, adding that arrangements are underway for funeral prayers (Jannaza) to be performed after Jumu’ah prayers, prior to interment.
The release also referenced the religious significance attached to the circumstances of death, noting that passing away during Tawaf is regarded within Islamic belief as a blessed end.
It further indicated that, in Islamic tradition, a pilgrim who dies while in a state of worship and Ihram is considered to have attained a special spiritual reward in the hereafter.
Signed by the Director of Communications, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, the statement conveyed condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, praying for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and for his admission into Jannatul Firdaus.
