The Ghana Police Service has arrested nine people nationwide for falsely publicising news about the disappearance of the genitals of some men in Kasoa.
Earlier this month, rumours about the strange vanishing of male genitals in Kasoa and its environs flooded social media, sparking fear and anxiety among men.
However In a statement on Sunday, April 7th, the police indicated that such claims are false per its own investigations and medical examinations.
The Poluce stated that the false news has “led to fear and panic among the public and attacks on innocent citizens.”
“Six persons have been arrested in Kasoa, in the Central Region, two in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region, and another in Nkawkaw, in the Eastern Region, for making such false claims of missing genitals.
Five (5) have been arraigned before court, with three (3) remanded into police custody and two granted bail. The rest are on police inquiry bail and will soon be arraigned before court, according to the police,” the statement revealed.
The police further warned the public against the spread of such false news, as it would harm innocent people and disturb public peace.
