The surge in inflation rates has resulted in an increase in fuel and food prices, leading to a high cost of living that is affecting people in society, causing discomfort and making life unbearable, which has resulted in a rise in suicide cases. However, there are some useful tips that can help mitigate these challenges.

Creating a Savings Plan

Establishing a budget will help individuals determine how much they can save by comparing their expenses to their income. With the ease of digital payments, it can be easy to lose track of small transactions over time, hence the need for a savings plan through budgeting.

Reducing Fuel and Driving Expenses

Considering the high cost of fuel, it is advisable to plan daily routes and drive less. By putting errands together and exploring other modes of transportation, individuals can save on fuel expenses. Additionally, it would be beneficial to take shorter routes, shop online, and research market prices before making purchases.

Assessing Consumption Patterns

With most people’s spending habits being disrupted by the high inflation rate, it can be difficult to adhere to a budget. To survive, individuals must evaluate their consumption patterns to prioritize essential needs such as shelter, food, fuel, and utilities. They must decide on non-essential costs such as eating out, subscriptions, gym memberships, data usage, etc., that can be temporarily put on hold.

Finding Additional Sources of Income

To cope with the high cost of living, individuals should consider taking up a side job or learning a new skill that can generate more income. Starting a side job requires careful consideration of personality, abilities, interests, and availability. It is an effective way to balance the budget, eliminate debt, increase savings, and investment returns. One should examine their prior experience to identify their strongest skills before starting a side job.

By implementing these tips, individuals can reduce the impact of high cost of living and survive in a challenging economy.
