President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that more than one million Ghanaians secured employment within the first two quarters of 2025, describing the development as early proof that his administration’s economic policies are translating into tangible benefits.

Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, February 27, the President pointed to job creation as a key indicator of the country’s improving economic outlook.

“Over one million Ghanaians gained employment within the first two quarters of 2025,” President Mahama stated.

He said the figures underscore the impact of policy measures aimed at stabilising the economy and stimulating growth across critical sectors.

“These numbers demonstrate that our policies are beginning to yield tangible benefits for households and young people across the country,” he noted.

The announcement comes amid ongoing national debate about unemployment, particularly among the youth, and concerns over the rising cost of living in recent years. The President maintained that the turnaround strategy adopted by his government is laying a solid foundation for sustained job creation.

He reiterated that difficult but necessary fiscal measures were implemented to restore order to the economy and rebuild investor confidence.

“I told this August House when I appeared before you last year that we would have to take tough, prudent and necessary decisions to restore stability and credibility,” he said, adding that the results are now becoming visible.
