The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has announced its readiness to independently verify the results of the 2024 presidential election following the official declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC).

In its December 8 statement, CODEO confirmed that it had completed data analysis from its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) methodology, which covered 1,500 nationally representative polling stations. “The PVT is a powerful tool that ensures the results announced by the EC reflect the ballots cast,” CODEO assured.

Preliminary projections from CODEO estimate voter turnout at 63.9% ±0.5% and rejected ballot rates at 2.1% ±0.1%. However, the coalition stressed it would only release its findings after the EC’s official announcement to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

Despite commending the EC for its overall arrangements, CODEO highlighted worrying trends, such as voter inducements and violent incidents at some polling stations and collation centers. “These undermine the ability of Ghanaians to freely express their choice,” the coalition noted, urging all stakeholders to prioritise democratic principles.

Meanwhile, the Coalition has called for calm among the public as the Electoral Commission prepares to announce the results within the legally stipulated timeframe.

CODEO expressed gratitude to its 4,000 volunteer observers, international partners, and supporting organisations, including USAID and the European Union, for contributing to Ghana’s democratic success.
