Catholic Bishops praise EC for organisation of 2024 Elections

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has congratulated Jean Mensa and the Electoral Commission (EC) for their successful management of the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.

In a statement signed by Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, President of the GCBC, the bishops commended the EC’s dedication to upholding electoral integrity, highlighting Ghana’s continued role as a model of democracy on the African continent.

“We commend the EC for the professionalism, transparency, and efficiency with which the elections were organised and managed,” the statement read.

The Bishops acknowledged the inevitable challenges of conducting elections but praised Mrs. Mensa’s exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to the EC’s mandate, noting that her efforts have strengthened public confidence in Ghana’s electoral systems.

The GCBC also applauded the EC’s effective collaboration with political parties, security agencies, civil society organisations, and the electorate, which ensured a peaceful and credible process that reflects the will of the people.

“Under her stewardship, the EC has not only delivered a credible electoral process but has also strengthened public confidence in the country’s electoral systems,” they emphasised.

The bishops called for continued peace and unity, urging all stakeholders to work together in the spirit of national development. “May God continue to bless Ghana and guide our leaders in their responsibility to serve the people with wisdom, integrity, and dedication,” the GCBC concluded.
