EOCO refutes report on alleged arrest of Springfield Energy CEO

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed as false a publication by online news outlet NorvanReport claiming that Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, has been arrested or detained in Dubai following EOCO’s alleged inaction on a petition.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 2nd November 2025, EOCO described the report as “false and misleading,” clarifying that the Office currently has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy — one based on a petition against the company, and another concerning a dispute between the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) and Springfield Energy.

“The case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy,” the Office said.

EOCO emphasised that its policy requires that investigations must precede any arrests, contrary to the claims made in the NorvanReport publication.

“Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that NorvanReport did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story,” the statement noted.

The anti-graft agency reaffirmed its commitment to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana “diligently and professionally,” while urging the public to disregard the false claims.

“EOCO is actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy,” the statement concluded.
