Limited Registration: Omane Boamah disputes EC’s figures
SharePostSendShareSend

With only a few days into the ongoing limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission, the Director of Elections of the NDC, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has challenged the numbers of registered voters being reported by the EC.

Dr. Boamah, in an X post on Sunday, May 12, 2024, observed that 19,267 should be the total number of registered voters for Day 2 (8th May), not 25,287 as reported by the EC.

Also, he argues that the total tally for Day 3 (9th May) per their records is 48,616 as compared with 43,417 supplied by the EC.

“Who is adding the figures at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission of Ghana?” Dr. Boamah quizzed.

The limited registration, which is targeted at freshly qualified voters, began on May 7, 2024, and is expected to last until May 27, 2024. Nonetheless, the Commission has served notice that it will extend the date there be any backlogs.

Since the beginning of the month, the NDC has had disagreements with the EC over the release of the serial numbers of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) devices following the reported misplacement of some of the devices by the EC.

However, the EC maintains the serial numbers are confidential, and any attempt to release them to the public would compromise the security and integrity of the machines.

Errors!!!

Electoral Commission of Ghana, 19,267 must be the total registered NOT 25,287 for Day 2.

Similarly Day 3 should be 48,616 and not 43,417.
