The President of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana (MoMAG), Edward Ofori Agyemang, together with the group’s national executives, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ghana Police Service for what it describes as intensified, intelligence-led operations targeting armed robbers and criminal gangs attacking mobile money agents.
The commendation was made on May 19, 2026, during a courtesy call on the IGP at Police Headquarters in Accra.
MoMAG said the renewed operational focus has helped improve the security situation for mobile money vendors and other citizens who have been victims of targeted robberies.
Mr. Agyemang praised the Police Service for strengthening accountability within its ranks and ensuring that misconduct is not shielded, describing the development as critical to restoring public trust in law enforcement.
As part of the gesture, MoMAG presented a citation, a plaque, and 100 packets of bottled mineral water to the Police Service in appreciation of its efforts in combating crime.
In response, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to protecting lives and property across the country.
He assured the delegation that the Service will maintain relentless pressure on criminal elements and ensure that offenders are arrested, investigated, and prosecuted.
Mr. Yohuno added that the Police Service remains focused on strengthening intelligence-led policing, particularly in response to emerging security threats targeting vulnerable groups such as mobile money agents.
