Poem: “In Memory of Nhyira Marfo Okyere” by Reynold Adjei

The late Nhyira Marfo Okyere of Team Eternity fame

NHYIRA MARFO OKYERE

You radiated every corner
Though you were an introvert.
Your smiles keep ripping me apart.
Your voice has become a torment in my ears.

To hear that you are no more is unreal;
To know that I’ll never get to play again with your cheeks is a pain I can’t contain.
Why did you choose to leave this soon??

I planned my ministry with you in the picture.
Long before my ministry was you, your friendship that had become an anchor of sorts.
I remember when you would come and sit by me

Without saying a word.
You were a true friend till the very end.
Even when you joined Team Eternity and you
Were seen everywhere, you never changed.

You still had time for me and supported me In my own ministry.
Your classics “Yen Nyame” written by me and “Gyataburuwa” by Osei Boateng will be immortalised.

You served God till you breathed your last.
I miss you already Nhyira and I miss those little moments where you expressed displeasure
At sending you a song at the last minute.

You would listen to it anyways and nail it.
I’ve indeed lost a treasure!!
How can I navigate through this labyrinth that’s darkened by your demise??

How can I plan my ministry without thinking about your role you would have played if you were here with me??
Death is cruel and callous. Oh death why now??

As I reminisce the good times we shared together, I’m consoled by the voices of the
Night that you’re better off there than here.
You’re resting and that’s much more satisfying.

Till we meet again, I’ll always love and cherish you.
I love you Nhyira, Damirifa Due😭😭😭😭😭
