Former MASLOC CEO, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, who was convicted and sentenced in absentia by a High Court in April 2024, has been returned to Ghana following extradition proceedings in the United States, according to the government.
Confirming the development Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said Ghana submitted a formal extradition request to the United States in July 2024 seeking her surrender to serve the sentence imposed by the court.
He said that after more than two years of legal proceedings, U.S. authorities notified the Government of Ghana in January 2026 that they had approved her surrender.
According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, Tamakloe-Attionu arrived in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, and has since been taken into custody.
“Officials of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Prisons Service have taken her into custody and are making the necessary preparations for her to begin her sentence,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Attorney-General is expected to hold bilateral discussions with officials of the United States Department of Justice on pending extradition requests involving the two countries.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation on extradition matters and addressing outstanding requests between Ghana and the United States.
