Former Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency and Council of State member, Enoch Teye Mensah, popularly known as E.T. Mensah, is dead.

E.T. Mensah died on Sunday, October 1, 2023, aged 77.

He died in South Africa after a protracted illness, according to reports.

He was a prominent member of the erstwhile Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and the opposition National Democratic Congress.

E.T. Mensah served as the mayor of Accra, the minister of youth and sports, the minister of education, and a council of state representatives for the Greater Accra Region.

At the general election in 1996, E.T. Mensah won a seat in the second parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana in the Ningo-Prampram constituency. He served as MP for the area until 2016, when he was defeated by Samuel Nartey George in the NDC’s parliamentary primaries.

Until his demise, the statesman bonded well with the ruling administration but had strained relationships with some members of his party.

His death comes after the passing of Former First Lady, Madam Theresa Kufuor, who died on the same day.

Mr. E. T. Mensah was married with seven children.
