On Wednesday, November 6, the Electoral Commission (EC) distributed certified copies of the Voters Register to all registered political parties and independent presidential candidates, as required by Sub-Regulation 4 of Regulation 27 of Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) 91.

In a statement on Thursday, November 7, the EC said it had provided these certified lists in soft copy format on external hard drives, which included the Valid Voters Register, Exceptions List, Multiples List, Transferred Voters List, Absent Voters List, Manual Verification List, Proxy Voters List, and Special Voters List.

The EC noted that, following a special request from the NDC for a summary of the various lists, it agreed to fulfil the request in a spirit of transparency and accountability, despite not being legally obligated to provide statistical breakdowns.

The Commission explained, however, that , due to the time required for this task, the EC will send the completed breakdowns to parties at a later time, adding that since 1992, it only provided political parties with soft copies of the Certified Voters Register, without the additional statistics as requested by the NDC.

The electoral governing body reiterated its commitment to transparency, noting that it had fulfilled its promise from the October 15, 2024, IPAC meeting to release the Certified Voters Register within the first week of November.

“The Commission assures all stakeholders that the Certified Voters Register is robust and credible,” stated Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of Operations.

He urged public support to ensure “free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in December 2024.”
