Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC) has begun implementing a comprehensive 24-hour operations programme aimed at improving efficiency, reducing operational bottlenecks and strengthening Ghana’s competitiveness in the global cocoa market.

The programme, according to CMC, will operate around three key pillars Offload 24, Load 24 and Export 24 covering the continuous receipt of cocoa from Licensed Buying Companies, loading and deliveries to local processors, and extended shipment operations.

CMC said the initiative is intended to address challenges arising from limited working hours, including congestion at take-over centres, delays in documentation and shipment processing, as well as the underutilisation of operational assets.

“The programme is built around three key operational pillars; Offload 24, Load 24 and Export 24 covering continuous cocoa receipt from Licensed Buying Companies, loading and deliveries to local processors, and extended shipment operations.”

The company said the programme would also improve coordination among key stakeholders whose operations increasingly extend beyond conventional working hours, including port authorities, Customs, shipping lines, transporters and processors.

CMC expects the extended operations to reduce turnaround times and improve the movement of cocoa through the marketing and export chain.

“CMC expects the programme to improve turnaround times, strengthen service delivery, enhance asset utilisation and support faster cash-flow cycles while maintaining Ghana’s premium cocoa quality standards.”

The company said implementation would be phased, with particular attention to infrastructure upgrades, staff sensitisation and training, security and safety measures, technology support and continuous performance monitoring.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to make Ghana’s cocoa marketing and export system more responsive and efficient amid the need to improve the sector’s global competitiveness.

CMC said it remains committed to developing an operational system capable of delivering sustainable value to farmers, buyers, processors and the wider national economy.

“CMC remains committed to building a more responsive, efficient and globally competitive cocoa marketing and export system that delivers sustainable value to farmers, buyers, processors and the national economy.”
