The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has confirmed the arrest of a Ghanaian national suspected of trafficking cocaine at Beirut International Airport in Lebanon.
In a statement dated November 1, 2026, NACOC said the suspect was arrested on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.
The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving Ghanaian and Lebanese law enforcement authorities.
According to NACOC, the operation was carried out after intelligence gathered by the two countries’ authorities identified a suspected cocaine trafficking network operating across borders.
The Commission said the successful operation resulted from sustained efforts to identify and apprehend targets at both ends of the supply chain, while gathering vital intelligence to dismantle the broader transnational criminal syndicate behind the shipment.
NACOC said it was working to arrest the suspect’s accomplices in Ghana, adding that the operation reflected a coordinated intelligence-led approach to combating organised criminal networks.
The Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting international drug trafficking networks through cross-border intelligence-sharing and cooperation with law enforcement agencies in other jurisdictions.
The statement was signed by PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, Ag. Director of Public Affairs and International Relations.
