NPP flagbearer elections: Outcomes Int’l predicts 72.6% victory for Bawumia

A research firm, Outcomes International, has predicted a landslide victory of 72.6% for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his party’s special delegates conference on Saturday.

The polls also projected Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen (7.7%), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (4.3%), Kwabena Agyapong (1.8%), and Dr. Owusu Afriye Akoto (0.6%) to make up the top five candidates.

13% were still undecided at the time of the polls.

Per the poll results by Outcomes International, candidates including Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, Joe Ghartey, Kofi Konadu Apraku, Francis Addai Nimoh, and Kwadwo Poku will be unable to progress to the next stage of the elections in November.

According to Outcomes International, data was obtained from some 300 NPP delegates through computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) technology.

The report additionally found that the main bases for assessing a candidate were the vision of the candidate for the party and country and the competence of the candidate, although 4.3% of the interviewees noted that their preference may change.

On the possibility of the party “breaking the 8”, the research observed that delegates are confident the party can win the 2024 elections if it presents a united front.

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, the NPP will hold a special conference with the objective of pruning the number of presidential aspirants from 10 to 5.

The five candidates will then be voted on in another round of elections on November 4, 2023, to ultimately elect a flagbearer for the party for the 2024 general elections.

Political analysts have already penned Dr. Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen, and Kennedy Agyapong as the three leading candidates to annex the presidential ticket of the party.
