The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formed an Election Review Committee following its participation in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The committee is tasked with conducting a comprehensive analysis of the party’s performance and providing recommendations for future action.

This was announced during a National Council meeting held on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

The committee will be chaired by the former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye. According to the party, “The committee is expected to conduct a post-mortem of our party’s involvement in the recent elections and offer crucial recommendations for the future.”

The committee will include several notable figures: Emerita Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu, Prof. Kofi Osei Akuoko, Prof. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, Dr. Felix Yamoah, Dr. Joseph Agyapong Darmoe, Mr. F.F. Anto, Mr. Kwaku Domfe, Hon. Gifty Kusi, Hon. Abdulai Abanga, Seidu Nasigri, Esq., and William Yamoah, who will serve as the secretary.

The NPP leadership aims to use the findings from the committee to further strengthen the party and improve its prospects in future elections.

The NPP, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 elections, suffered a significant defeat, securing approximately 40% of the votes, while former president John Dramani Mahama won with about 57% of the valid votes.
