The Council of State has invited the Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG) to a meeting on Friday, October 9, 2026, to discuss concerns underlying its ongoing labour dispute.
The meeting, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Conference Room of the Council’s Secretariat in Accra, is expected to provide an opportunity for members of the Council to deliberate on issues raised by the teachers’ union.
According to an invitation letter dated October 8, 2026, the meeting will focus on promotions, deprived area allowances and the union’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which are being discussed between PRETAG and the Ministry of Education.
“I respectfully write on behalf of the Chairman of the Economic and Social Development Committee of the Council of State, H.E. HRM Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, to invite you to a meeting on Friday, 9th October 2026,” the letter stated.
It said the purpose of the meeting was to brief members of the Council on the concerns raised by the union in connection with the labour dispute.
The invitation was signed by Ahmed A. Imoro, Acting Executive Secretary of the Council of State, and addressed to the National President of PRETAG.
The meeting comes amid ongoing discussions between the teachers’ union and the Ministry of Education over the outstanding issues.
