Chef Abdul-Razak Failatu is aiming at achieving another GWR record-breaking attempt for the longest cooking time, a few days after Afua’s Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon challenge.
She plans to cook for at least 120 hours to break the current Guinness cook-a-thon record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
Faila, who is hosting the event at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, started cooking in the early hours of January 1, 2024, and is expected to end on January 5, 2024.
In an earlier interview announcing the cooking challenge, Jah Bless, as she is popularly called, urged Ghanaians to support her, as a win for her is a win for all Ghanaians and vice versa.
“If I fail, I have failed my country, my family, my friends, and the people who trained me, and I am not ready for that,” she said.
Prominent personalities who have visited the venue to support Faila include the MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, the MP for Tamale Central, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Amin Adam, and a host of other entertainment figures.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GHC 30,000 to Faila’s campaign while urging her to achieve her goal.
