Popular blogger Samuel Dortey Kumah, owner of Sammy Kay Media, is in police custody over an alleged misrepresentation of a staff member of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in a viral video.
Sammy Kay had allegedly mistook an official of the cybercrime unit of the Ghana Police Service for the CSA staff in a video that featured controversial socialite Abena Korkor.
Last week, a sexually suggestive video of Abena Korkor went viral online.
Abena Korkor reacted by saying she sent the sexually explicit film to just two people, accusing some other two people of being behind the leak.
She stated that a security official associated with the Ghana Police Service’s cybercrime unit was among the individuals she suspected of spreading the video.
Another explicit video was shared on social media on Wednesday, and it was tagged with the name of the security officer that Korkor had previously indicated.
However, Sammy Kay is believed to have publicised the aforementioned images and linked them to some pictures of an official from the CSA.
But in a rebuttal, CSA stated that the use of its staff in the said video was unlawful and constitutes misrepresentation and criminal attrition.
CSA stated further that it has caused the arrest of Sammy Kay, who is presently in police custody.
“Reference is made to a publication on some social media platforms containing sexually explicit material and unlawful use of the images of Cyber Security Authority (CSA) officials by Samuel Dortey Kumah, owner of Sammykaymedia.
“He has since been arrested and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service,” the CSA said in a statement.
“We wish to categorically state that the tagging of the images to this explicit material is a misrepresentation and of criminal attribution. The CSA dissociates itself from the same and admonishes the general public to disregard any such potential criminal misrepresentation,” the statement added.
