The Ghana National Gas Company has denied allegations of wrongdoing in its recent procurement activities, attributing the controversy to routine changes in its insurance arrangements.
In a press statement issued on April 13, 2026, the company said recent media reports suggesting impropriety were largely triggered by the appointment of a new lead insurer following the expiration of previous insurance contracts at the end of last year.
“The Company wishes to categorically assure the general public that no wrongdoing has occurred,” the statement said, emphasizing that the new insurance arrangements are lawful and form part of an enhanced risk management strategy aimed at protecting its assets.
Ghana Gas further clarified that all contracts awarded have complied with due process, including approvals from the Public Procurement Authority after receiving commitment authorizations from the Ministry of Finance.
The Board and Management reiterated their commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring stakeholders that the company remains focused on its core mandate of delivering gas efficiently to support Ghana’s energy needs.
“As is standard practice for any robust organization, the Company will continue to review and strengthen its internal processes when necessary,” the statement noted, adding that this is essential to maintaining strong corporate governance, compliance, and risk management systems.
