Judicial activities across Ghana have been disrupted following the commencement of an indefinite nationwide strike by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Several court premises in Accra, including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Accra Circuit Court and some District Courts, were locked as judicial staff withdrew their services.
Security personnel at the affected facilities restricted access to the premises, while red cloths tied to some court entrances signalled the ongoing industrial action.
The strike follows JUSAG’s demand for the payment of outstanding revised salary arrears dating back to January 2026.
The withdrawal of services is expected to affect court proceedings and administrative operations across the Judicial Service, potentially causing delays in the delivery of justice.
Meanwhile, Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed has appealed to the association to reconsider its decision and call off the strike.
He said management had engaged in high-level, good-faith negotiations with relevant government stakeholders to resolve the outstanding issues.
The appeal comes as the industrial action takes effect, with court operations already disrupted in parts of the country.
JUSAG is yet to call off the strike as it presses for the settlement of the outstanding salary arrears.
