Kristo Asafo Dispute: Adwoa Safo suffers 10-day injunction over planned funeral

An Accra High Court has temporarily halted arrangements for the funeral and burial of the late industrialist and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, following a 10-day interim injunction against former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The order prevents Mrs Safo from proceeding with preparations for the funeral pending further consideration of the matter by the court.

Lawyer for the Kristo Asafo Mission, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka, said the injunction was granted after the Mission filed an application concerning issues surrounding the estate of the late Apostle.

He explained that the order was intended to temporarily restrain Mrs Safo from organising the funeral while the court considers the issues raised in the case.

The legal action follows disagreements within the Safo family over who has the authority to take charge of the funeral arrangements and ensure that the late industrialist’s final wishes are carried out.

The funeral had been scheduled to take place on July 30 and 31, 2026, but the court’s decision has placed the planned ceremonies on hold for the duration of the interim order.

Mrs Safo had, however, maintained that the funeral would proceed as scheduled. In an interview on Angel FM on Tuesday, July 28, she insisted that the arrangements would go ahead and appealed to her brother, Kwadwo Safo Akofena, not to interfere with the planned ceremonies.

Following the ruling, supporters of the Nana Kwadwo Akofena and some members of the Kristo Asafo Mission at the court premises expressed satisfaction with the decision.
