A marketing communications practitioner, Nana Yaw Kesse, has argued that the planned month-long demonstration by #OccupyJulorbiHouse protestors will not augur well for end-of-year activities in the country.

Reacting to the statement from the convenors on Monday, Nana Yaw was of the view that the elongated period of the demonstration will overshadow business activities, events, and the government’s “Beyond the Return” initiative, which is aimed at boosting tourism.

“Ghana is the global tourist hub in December, so planning a month-long demonstration throughout December can only be a devious attempt aimed at creating a feeling of instability, making tourists feel unsafe, and tarnishing the image of the country,” he opined in a Facebook post on October 10, 2023.

Democracy Hub, organisers of the demonstration, has stated that they intend to embark on the demonstration to bring pressure to bear on the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to immediately step down, citing mismanagement, corruption, and greed.

They warned that they would call on Parliament to impeach the President if he failed to resign.

The protest is scheduled to take place from December 1st to December 31st around the seat of government, the Jubilee House.

The group organised a similar three-day demonstration last month, which witnessed the arrests of scores of people following police disagreement with their choice of venue.
