The Government of Ghana has paid GH¢10.816 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), marking the third DDEP coupon payment made fully in cash.

The Ministry of Finance, in a press release issued on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, said the payment was made in full and on schedule, bringing the total amount paid to DDEP bondholders since 2025 to GH¢41.36 billion.

According to the Ministry, the latest payment forms part of government’s commitment to meeting its obligations under the domestic debt restructuring programme and maintaining confidence in Ghana’s financial markets.

“This is the third DDEP coupon payment made fully in cash. It was paid in full and on schedule,” the Ministry stated.

The Ministry said the timely payment demonstrates what it described as government’s “fiscal discipline and firm commitment” to meeting its debt obligations.

It added that the payment would help strengthen investor confidence, reduce sovereign default risk and reinforce Ghana’s financial credibility.

The DDEP was introduced as a key component of Ghana’s broader debt restructuring efforts, aimed at restoring debt sustainability and supporting the country’s economic recovery.

The latest cash payment is therefore significant for domestic bondholders, who have been affected by the restructuring of government’s domestic debt obligations.

The Ministry of Finance further assured bondholders, investors and the general public that government remains committed to meeting future obligations under the programme.

“Government assures bondholders, investors and the public that all future DDEP obligations will also be paid in full and on schedule,” the Ministry said.

The GH¢10.8 billion payment comes as government continues efforts to rebuild confidence in Ghana’s domestic debt market and strengthen the credibility of its fiscal management.

The Ministry maintained that adherence to scheduled debt-service commitments remains central to restoring investor confidence and ensuring the sustainability of Ghana’s public finances.
