The Ministry of Education has constituted a three-member committee to investigate concerns raised by the University Teachers Association of Ghana following the association’s recent press conference.
In a statement issued on April 13, 2026, the Ministry said the move is aimed at ensuring an informed and balanced assessment of the issues raised by UTAG, while paving the way for appropriate policy and administrative responses.
According to the statement, the committee has been tasked with examining the allegations and related matters and making recommendations for the consideration of President John Dramani Mahama.
The committee is chaired by Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Apaak. Other members include Professor George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Ministry, and Professor Mahama Duweijua, Board Chairman of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
The Ministry emphasized that the formation of the committee reflects government’s commitment to due process and stakeholder engagement in addressing concerns within the tertiary education sector.
It further appealed to all relevant parties, including UTAG and other stakeholders, to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure a smooth and effective investigation.
“We remain committed to constructive dialogue and to resolving all outstanding issues in the best interest of tertiary education in Ghana,” the statement noted.
