The Korle-Bu Doctors Association has suspended its strike action at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, paving the way for the resumption of Out-Patient Department (OPD) services from Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
The decision, announced in a notice dated May 4 and signed by KODA Chairman Dr. Asare K. Offei, follows an emergency meeting between the Association and hospital management earlier in the day.
KODA said the suspension was based on assurances from management to facilitate the return of Laboratory Physicians to their posts at the hospital’s Central Laboratory—an issue that had triggered the industrial action.
“This decision follows a meeting held this morning and the assurances given by management to ensure laboratory physicians return to their place of work,” the statement said.
The Association emphasised the importance of collaboration between key professional groups within the hospital, noting that “the peaceful coexistence of Laboratory Physicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists at the Central Laboratory is best for quality healthcare delivery.”
Doctors under KODA had earlier withdrawn OPD services on Monday, May 4, in protest over an unresolved dispute linked to operations and leadership at the Central Laboratory.
The action disrupted routine outpatient care, raising concerns among patients and the general public.
