The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region officially launched its regional campaign at the market square in Damongo.

Numerous national figures, dignitaries, and thousands of party supporters gathered to show their support for the campaign launch.

Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, declared that the party is fully prepared for the 2024 general elections. He emphasised that this year’s election would differ significantly from the 2020 elections, stating, “If you put your leg in our way, we will cut it off.”

He challenged the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming they have expressed intentions of stealing the election. “If that were true, I want to ask the NPP one question: why are they still campaigning?” he added.

Basintale reaffirmed that the Savannah Region has always been a stronghold for the NDC. Although the party lost some seats in previous elections, he stated that they are committed to leaving no stone unturned in their efforts.

“The Savannah Region will be the world bank of the National Democratic Congress, as all seven seats will be in the capacity of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 general elections.”

Former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, stated that former President John Dramani Mahama needs just four years to realise his vision and plans for Ghana. He emphasised the need for an experienced leader to guide the nation through its current crises.

“We cannot entrust our future to an untested candidate who lacks a proven track record,” he said.

Hon. Iddrisu also urged President Nana Addo to take immediate action against illegal mining (Galamsey) to protect Ghana’s water bodies.
